The school team.

The club team.

The courts down the street.

The private academy.

Every environment comes with a story. A story of the beliefs and behaviours of those who operate within it. A story of culture.

Here’s the thing…

Culture is infectious. With time, you become part of it. An intense desire to belong impels you to internalise the story and begin telling it.

But is the right story?

Does the culture serve your goals and objectives? Does it prioritise what’s important to you? Does it help you be the person you want to be?

It turns out that swimming against a cultural tide is exhausting.

A much better idea is to align yourself on purpose in the first place.

Let me know the best ways you’ve experienced to promote positive cultures in youth sport environments, either via the comments below or on our Facebook page.
