My guest on the show today is James Baker. James is an Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach with the UK Strength & Conditioning Association and a fully qualified Physical Education Teacher. At present, James works as a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Sport Science Lead at the Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar.

Prior to this, James created a long-term athlete development system at St. Peter’s R.C. High School in Gloucester, which was integrated into the Physical Education programme and focused on providing holistic support to student-athletes with sporting potential. In 2017, James was awarded the UKSCA’s Coach of the Year Award for Youth Sport for his work at the school.

In our conversation, James talks about the importance of fundamental movement skills and how he thinks about developing them, individualising training when dealing with big groups, using appropriate levels of challenge to earn trust and get the best out of your youth athletes, and much more.

Please say hi to James on Twitter or on the web at the PROFORMANCE network.
