Healthzone Medical welcomes Dr Andre George, who has taken over the reins from Dr Simon Mayhew as the new owner. Simon is still staying on, as will most of the doctors, nurse and frontline team, without any change to the services you have been receiving or disruption of your care.
Dr George has already started seeing patients alongside our other GPs. You may know him from Apollo Medical or even Silverdale Medical where he worked previously. Trained in Cape Town, he has many years experience in healthcare, management and research. His work ranged from the smallest underprivileged clinics to the some of the largest affluent practices on the Shore.
His experience in New Zealand covers urgent care, hospital-level aged retirement care, special needs, family general practice and as a panel doctor for Immigration New Zealand. Dr George also is a Clinical Director at the local Comprehensive Care PHO, involved in national, regional and DHB forums. Previously he was an executive manager at the Health Research Council of New Zealand.
Dr George’s areas of expertise/interests are varied — allergies (dermatology, respiratory) and skin cancer/checks, migraine and neurology, men’s health and diagnostic dilemmas. His philosophy is a holistic and preventative approach to health alongside patient education and empowerment. His patients know him for his thorough approach, patience, understanding, and willingness to help them along their individualized journey to better health. He is also open to complementary approaches such as whole thyroid for hypothyroidism and medicinal CBD for chronic pain and anxiety.
This year, Dr George is hoping to add to the current services already available to the patients at Healthzone Medical. Skin checks and cancer surgery will continue. We will be expanding our scope of osteoarthritis and joint renewal treatments, and introducing medical skin repair therapies.
Expect further exciting new changes — a new website and patient portal for online booking, prescription requests, and results, and even Saturday clinics.
