I’m Chris Rahardja, the new doctor working at HealthZone Medical. Although I have massive shoes to fill with Simon leaving, I hope to make a meaningful impact in improving your health.
A little about myself: I was born and raised here on the North Shore by two amazing and hardworking Indonesian/Chinese parents. I have two siblings who have surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) also joined the medical workforce. I completed my schooling at St Mary’s Primary and then Rosmini College, before graduating medical school at the University of Auckland in 2015. Since then I have been working at Auckland City, North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals in a wide range of surgical and medical specialties, before coming to HealthZone Medical.
Outside the world of medicine, I have been an avid martial artist, having the privilege and opportunity to represent New Zealand in the sport of karate. Some of my proudest achievements were becoming the youngest Kiwi to represent New Zealand at a Senior World Championships whilst also winning fifth place, a silver in the Junior World Karate Championships and being nominated for the best Emerging Talent Award at the 2009 Halberg Awards. Otherwise in my spare time, I love to hike and travel the world. You’ll generally hear me before you see me, and love to bring energy into a room.
I’ve been fortunate to have met many of you already, but look forward to meeting many more of you and I hope I can be of great service to the community here. Don’t be shy, if you see me around come and say hi, I’m always down for a chat!
