Best I can tell, we all have difficulties in life.

Difficulties as in: I let a goal in. I didn’t make the team. I don’t have what it takes.

And when we do, we look for closeness. The familiarity and confidence to share our deepest thoughts and beliefs without fear of personal consequence.

We also look for understanding.

Not of the game, or the result, but of who we are and what’s most important to us.      

Feeling connected is an essential psychological need for all of us. 

It makes us feel safe.

Which is what all of our development is built on.
