Introducing Dr Danielle Jacobs

I’m Daniëlle Jacobs, the new Doctor working at Healthzone Medical.

A bit about myself, I was born in South Africa but moved over to live in New Zealand with my family when I was 6. Though I completed all of my schooling here I am bilingual – being able to speak both Afrikaans and English fluently. I graduated from Macleans College and subsequently went on to complete my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Auckland, where I double-majored in Psychology and Sport & Exercise Science. I then continued on to study Medicine and graduated from the University of Auckland in 2017. Since then, I have worked at all of Auckland’s public hospitals in a range of medical and surgical specialties and have now come to join the awesome team at Healthzone Medical.

I have an interest in Sports Medicine and have, as such, completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Football Medicine through FIFA whilst working, and attained various certificates in assessing spinal cord injuries as well as concussion and immediate/pitch-side injuries through the American Spinal Injuries Association and World Rugby, respectively. I have been involved in team and event coverage for the ANZ Netball Premiership, Softball NZ and the Mitre 10 Cup. I hope to continue my clinical involvement in these sports in the coming year, as well as through greater involvement in acute concussion assessments for community sport.

Outside of medicine and work, I love the outdoors and frequently go on hikes and road trips. I also play field hockey and have had the privilege of representing New Zealand in the Under 16 TigerTurf hockey team as well as the Auckland Women’s side in the National Hockey League. I continue to play for the Howick and Pakuranga Premier 1 Women’s side (for nearly two decades now), so if you don’t catch me at the clinic, I’ll likely be at the turf!

I look forward to meeting you and making a meaningful contribution towards the Healthzone team and the well-being of our patients. If you see me around don’t be shy, come and say hi – I’m always down for a chat!

Danielle’s hours are Monday – Friday, 10am-5pm.
