North Harbour Water Polo Club had a successful start to the 2014 Water Polo season with the Wizard Electrical Senior Men and the Earcon Acoustic Senior Women’s Water Polo team’s winning GOLD and taking the NZ National Titles.

Adding to the success the Senior Women’s team have just been named as Finalists for the “Regional Team of the Year” at the up and coming North Harbour Sports Excellence Awards Evening along with North Harbour Water Polo Club being nominated for Club of the Year.

The club committee have worked hard to ensure the club is seen as a professional, yet family orientated club based at AUT Millennium and this recognition is a testament to their efforts and to the commitment of our members. Fifty-two North Harbour Water Polo athletes have represented New Zealand this year, an incredible representation of the strength of our club, and the talent of our region.

This year also saw a large number of our age group teams attend the bi-annual Pan Pacific Youth Festival held at the West Wave Aquatic Centre. The North Harbour teams played against teams from USA, Australia, Canada and Singapore,  coming away with five Gold Medals and one Bronze Medal.

Over the October School Break our U16 age group teams attended the Division 1 and Division 2 Age Group Nationals in Auckland and Rotorua respectively, with our U16 A Girls becoming the Division 1 National Title Holders for the fifth year in a row and our U16 C boys retaining the Division 2 National Title taking the Gold Medal. Our U16A boys missed the Gold by one goal and were ecstatic to bring home the silver.

2015 is a huge growth year for the club with the new Sir Owen G. Glenn Aquatic Centre scheduled to open in the middle of the year. We anticipate an increase of up to 800 new members which is a massive increase for our club and one that we are working hard to ensure we are ready for.
