Teagan is one of our resident lifeguards. She helps keep everyone safe and happy who comes into the Sir Owen G. Glenn National Aquatic Centre. Teagan always loves a good laugh, so next time you see her say hi and ask her what it’s like to be a lifeguard.
What do you love about working at the AUT Millennium?
My favourite part about working here is seeing all the kids from the swim school and north shore swimming, which come in every week, and have a laugh with them.
Tell us something interesting about yourself…
I have had over 20 piercings in my life! (But only wear 10 now)
What is the craziest thing that has happened to you while lifeguarding?
While working at Wet’n’Wild in Australia, there was a snake hanging out at my station. It was the first time I had seen a snake in the wild, so that was quite exciting.
What’s your favourite Olympic sport?
I always liked watching the gymnastics, especially Rhythmic Gymnastics – the one with the ribbons.
At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
I think it would have to be Kmart haha. I love getting me a bargain and a good deal!
What’s the strangest talent you have?
I don’t really have any? But maybe being able to sleep almost anywhere? Haha last week I used a drink bottle for a pillow…don’t ask me why!
If I gave you $10 dollars to go buy me chocolate milk, and it only cost $3, would you bring me all the change or would you tell me it was actually $10? Because I’ll know. I’ll know chocolate milk doesn’t cost that much.
What are you doing that’s so important that you can’t get your own chocolate milk? Can we go get chocolate milk together?
If your life was a TV show, which TV show would it be and why?
I have no idea! Maybe Bananas in Pyjamas, because they’re always falling down the stairs and I’m pretty clumsy too?!
What cheers you up?
Spending time with my partner, he always knows how to make me laugh.
If you could hang out with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
I would like to spend time with Joe Rogan, he has some interesting outlooks on life and so many funny stories.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation including myself as well as other nearby people. I could travel the world every weekend, it would be amazing
Name 3 things in the world you find most beautiful.
Animals, especially cats, nature and the beach.
What is your favorite place you’ve been to and why?
Definitely Thailand. I love it there and have been 4 times. I love the hot weather, amazing food and the people are very positive and happy.
